Data Attribution

Nwiro’s landscape generation builds terrain from open elevation (DEM) datasets. The credits below cover the data sources behind that terrain. If you distribute a project that uses terrain generated with Nwiro, include the relevant attribution from this page in your project’s credits.

The same notices ship with the plugin in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt, and the canonical web version lives at nwiro.ai/attribution .

Terrain data — Mapzen / Tilezen Terrain Tiles (AWS Open Data)

Global terrain is sourced from the Mapzen / Tilezen Terrain Tiles dataset, hosted on the AWS Open Data program. It is a composite of many national and global providers, so all of the following must be credited:

  • ArcticDEM terrain data DEM(s) were created from DigitalGlobe, Inc., imagery and funded under National Science Foundation awards 1043681, 1559691, and 1542736.
  • Australia terrain data © Commonwealth of Australia (Geoscience Australia) 2017.
  • Austria terrain data © offene Daten Österreichs – Digitales Geländemodell (DGM) Österreich.
  • Canada terrain data contains information licensed under the Open Government Licence – Canada.
  • Europe terrain data produced using Copernicus data and information funded by the European Union - EU-DEM layers.
  • Global ETOPO1 terrain data U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
  • Mexico terrain data source: INEGI, Continental relief, 2016.
  • New Zealand terrain data Copyright 2011 Crown copyright (c) Land Information New Zealand and the New Zealand Government (All rights reserved).
  • Norway terrain data © Kartverket.
  • United Kingdom terrain data © Environment Agency copyright and/or database right 2015. All rights reserved.
  • United States 3DEP, GMTED2010 and SRTM terrain data courtesy of the U.S. Geological Survey.

These datasets are provided under a range of open terms: public domain, the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 / 3.0 International Licenses (CC BY, http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ ), Open Government Licences, and the Copernicus licence. This product contains data that has been modified and processed to generate 3D terrain. See each provider’s terms for details.

United States terrain — USGS 3DEP

Higher-detail terrain within the United States is sourced from the USGS 3D Elevation Program (3DEP). 3DEP data is in the U.S. public domain and does not legally require attribution, but we credit it gladly:
